SYMPTOMS

The error "A given HROW referred to a hard- or soft-deleted row" occurs when trying to do an insert on a SQL 6.5 database.

CAUSE

The insert statement instantiates a trigger to generate a required value, such as a primary key.

RESOLUTION

Upgrade the Web Server's (IIS 3.0 or PWS) ODBC Drivers to 3.50.33.8 or later. Available from http://microsoft.com/data/downloads.htm.
