ACC97: Objects Dragged to New Toolbar Fail Silently

When you drag an object to a new toolbar in an effort to create a command button that will open or run the object, the command button is not created.

The command button will not be created if there are no other buttons on the toolbar. The procedure fails silently.

To add a command button to a new toolbar, follow these steps:

1. On the View menu, point to Toolbars, and then click Customize.

2. In the Customize dialog box, click the Commands tab.

3. In the Categories list box, click the object type for your object.

   In the Commands list box, scroll down until you see your object,
   and then click the object to select it.

4. Drag the object from the Commands list box to the new toolbar.

5. Close the Customize dialog box.

This behavior is by design.

1. Open the sample database Northwind.mdb.

2. On the View menu, point to Toolbars, and then click Customize.

3. On the Toolbars tab, click New, accept the default Toolbar name, and

   then click OK.

4. Close the Customize dialog box.

5. Drag the Categories table from the Database Window to the new toolbar.

   Note that the new button is not placed on the toolbar.
