"End Task" Dialog Box Appears When You Shut Down Windows NT

SYMPTOMS

When you shut down Microsoft Windows NT, an End Task dialog box may appear.


CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the Focus feature is enabled in the Microsoft IntelliPoint software.


RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, disable the Focus feature in the IntelliPoint software. To do so, follow the appropriate steps for your version of Windows NT:

Windows NT 4.0

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.


  2. Double-click Mouse.


  3. On the StepSavers tab, click the Focus checkbox to clear it.


  4. Click OK, and then close Control Panel.


Windows NT 3.51

  1. Double-click the Main program group, and then double-click Control Panel.


  2. Double-click Mouse.


  3. On the StepSavers tab, click the Focus checkbox to clear it.


  4. Click OK, and then close Control Panel.
