IntelliMouse Wheel May Not Function on Packard Bell Computer

SYMPTOMS

When you install a Microsoft IntelliMouse and the Microsoft IntelliPoint software version 2.0 on a Packard Bell computer, the IntelliMouse wheel may not respond properly in Windows 95.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the Fmedia program is loaded in memory.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, disable the Fmedia program. To do so, follow these steps:

1. Use any text editor (such as Notepad) to open the Win.ini file in the Windows folder.

2. Remove any reference to Fmedia.exe on the "load=" or "run=" line in the [Windows] section of the Win.ini file. If Fmedia.exe loads from the Startup folder, move it out of the Startup folder.

3. Restart the computer.
