The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Commercial Internet System, version 1.0

SYMPTOMS

When you set a new default domain in the UI of the Microsoft Commercial Internet System (MCIS) Administrator program and you delete it with the command inetcfg, it still remains as the default in new user and new distribution list.

CAUSE

Deleting the default domain through the command line leaves no default domain. Therefore, MCIS Mail Server will use the last known default domain.

WORKAROUND

Set a default domain through the UI.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Commercial Internet System (MCIS) version 1.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
