IMS: Setup Does Not Ask Whether to Start Services

Last reviewed: February 3, 1998
Article ID: Q160094
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Commercial Internet System, version 1.0

SYMPTOMS

Setup automatically starts SMTP/POP3 after installation without asking whether or not to start these services. There may be other work that needs to be done on a system after installation before that system is considered "ready for production."

CAUSE

This is by design. Setup is not successful until the services are started.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Commercial Internet System (MCIS) version 1.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
