IMS: Upgrade of IMS Results in Loss of Postmaster Alias

SYMPTOMS

When you perform an upgrade of the Internet Mail Server (IMS), the postmaster alias reverts back to Postmaster@<default domain>.com.

WORKAROUND

  1. Run Add/Remove Programs and remove IMS.

  2. Reinstall IMS.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Commercial Internet System version 1.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
