Internet Explorer Access Violation When Using Older Chatsock.dll

SYMPTOMS

Chat OCX causes an access violation in the Internet Explorer (IE). The Chat frame in IE cannot be opened.

CAUSE

You are running an older version of Chatsock.dll.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem:

  1. In the <System Root>\System32 directory, rename Chatsock.dll Chatsock.old.

  2. Copy the new Chatsock.dll to the same directory, or simply execute the CHAT OCX again in IE. It will download the new Chatsock.dll automatically.
