The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Commercial Internet System, version 1.0

STATUS

In Microsoft Commercial Internet System, version 1.0, code was written so that a server would wait one minute before attempting to connect a portal, and then wait an additional five minutes before attempting to connect a second time.

Chatsvc.dll has been modified to attempt first connection after 10 seconds, then retry after one minute. To correct this problem, upgrade the server(s) to Service Pack 1 (SP1) for MCIS. This will update the Chatsvc.dll file.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Commercial Internet System, version 1.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
