Can't Move Documentation Item Down in MOM Customize List

ID: Q129714

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Office Manager (MOM), when you move the Microsoft Office Documentation item up in the list of applications that appear on the Microsoft Office Manager menu, you cannot move the item down again.

CAUSE

When you install Microsoft Office version 4.2.1-CD, the Microsoft Office Documentation item appears at the bottom of the Microsoft Office Manager menu. If you use the Microsoft Office Manager Customize dialog box to move the documentation item up in the list of items that appear on the Office Manager menu, the down arrow (under Move) remains unavailable (gray) indicating that you cannot move the item down.

Note that whenever you move an item below the last separator in the list of items displayed on the Microsoft Office Manager menu, the Move down arrow becomes unavailable, indicating that you cannot move the item further down in the list. For example, if you move the Finder item below the last separator in the list, the Move down arrow becomes unavailable. Additionally, the Find File, Setup and Uninstall, Office Help, and Office CueCards items appear below the last separator in the list of items. However, you cannot move one of these items at all; that is, both the up arrow and the down arrow for Move are unavailable when you select one of these items.

The behavior of the Microsoft Office Documentation item is different from the other items in the list in that, although the item appears below the last separator, you can move the position of the item. However, you can only move the item by using the Move up arrow, not by using the Move down arrow.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
