SYMPTOMS

When you add a toolbar to the Microsoft Office Shortcut Bar, the toolbar folder may not appear in the Shortcut Bar folder when you view the folders in Windows Explorer or My Computer.

NOTE: The Shortcut Bar folder is in the "\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office" folder for Microsoft Office 97 and in the "\Msoffice\Office" folder for Microsoft Office for Windows 95 version 7.0).

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when you create a toolbar for an existing folder.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION

When you choose to add a toolbar to the Office Shortcut Bar, you have the option of either making a toolbar for an existing folder, or making a new blank toolbar.

New Blank Toolbar

When you add a new blank toolbar to the Office Shortcut Bar, a folder for this toolbar is created in the Shortcut Bar folder. For example, if you add the toolbar "My Files" to the Office Shortcut Bar, the folder "My Files" is created in the Shortcut Bar folder. Additionally, the Office folder for the Office toolbar that ships with Microsoft Office is available in the Shortcut Bar folder. However, not all of the toolbars on the Office Shortcut Bar are located in the Shortcut Bar folder in the Office folder.

Existing Folder

When you create a toolbar for an existing folder, a folder for this toolbar is not created in the Shortcut Bar folder.
