SUMMARY

The Office Shortcut Bar may take a long time to display a toolbar or may cause unexpected behavior when a toolbar points to a directory that has a large number of files.

MORE INFORMATION

If there are more than 50 files in a directory, the toolbar may display the following message:

This toolbar contains too many buttons. Only the first 50 buttons will be displayed; the rest will be hidden.
Note that this dialog box may not always be displayed. After you click the OK button, it may appear that Office Shortcut Bar has stopped responding.

Note that if you shut down your computer, log off, or terminate the Office Shortcut Bar by pressing CTRL+ALT+DELETE, the next time Windows is started, the Office Shortcut Bar will try to add the toolbar again.

WORKAROUND

Windows 95

Delete the following registry key

   My Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office Shortcut Bar
   \Toolbars\<toolbar name>
where <toolbar name> is the name of the toolbar or folder that was being added.

For information about how to edit the registry, see the Changing Keys And Values topic in Registry Editor Help (REGEDIT.EXE). Note that you should make a backup copy of the registry files (SYSTEM.DAT and USER.DAT) before you edit the registry.

WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall Windows 95. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

Windows NT

Delete the following registry key

   HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office Shortcut Bar
   \Toolbars\<toolbar name>
where <toolbar name> is the name of the toolbar or folder that was being added.
