OFF97: Problems with Millennium and Mystique Video Cards

SYMPTOMS

When you use any of the programs listed at the beginning of this article, you may notice any of the following problems:


CAUSE

These problems may occur if a Matrox Millennium or a Matrox Mystique video adapter is installed on your computer and any of the following conditions is true:

To resolve this problem, download updated video drivers and BIOS files from the Matrox Web site.

NOTE: Microsoft does not support downloading and installing updated video drivers and BIOS files from the Matrox Web site. If you need assistance, you must contact Matrox Technical Support.

Downloading Updated Video Drivers

To download updated video drivers from the Matrox Web site, follow these steps:
  1. Use your Web browser to go to the appropriate Web address. The Matrox Web address is the following:

  3. Click the link for your operating system (for example, click "/win95/" for Windows 95, or "/winnt/" for Windows NT and so on).


  4. Click the appropriate link to download the latest video driver. When you are prompted to open or save the file you are downloading, click "Save it to disk," and then save the file in a folder on your hard disk.


  5. After you download the file, run it and follow the instructions in the Readme.txt file.


Downloading Updated BIOS Files

To download updated BIOS files, follow these steps:
  1. Use your Web browser to go to the appropriate Web address. The Matrox Web addresses are listed in the following table.

  2. Click "/bios/."


  3. Click the link for the BIOS files, and then save the file in a folder on your hard disk.


  4. Decompress the downloaded file by using the PKZip utility.

    If PKZip is not installed on your computer, use the link on any of the pages on the Matrox Web site to download PKZip.


  5. Run the Install.exe program and follow the instructions on the screen.


After the Install.exe program is finished, a Readme.txt file should be in the Mga\Setup folder. This file contains instructions for updating your video adapter BIOS.
