SYMPTOMS

When you run the Setup program for one of the programs listed at the beginning of this article, and you click the Remove All button (in maintenance mode) the shortcut for the program that you remove may still be available in Windows.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if you have renamed the shortcut for the program. For example, if you rename the shortcut for Microsoft Word to Word, the shortcut is not removed when you run Setup in maintenance mode and click the Remove All button. This behavior occurs because the Setup program does not detect that the shortcut has been removed. If Setup cannot locate the shortcut (assuming the original name), Setup assumes that the shortcut does not exist and does not remove the shortcut.

Note that the shortcuts are added to the Start Menu\Programs folder in the Microsoft Windows folder, and appear on the Programs menu on the Start menu in Windows.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, when you use the Remove All feature in maintenance mode Setup, if a shortcut for the program is left on your computer, you can delete the shortcut by dragging the shortcut to the Recycle Bin.
