The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft WordArt version 1.0, if you press ENTER after typing your text and then select the Stretch Vertical option, WordArt will include the resulting line when it calculates the vertical stretch. WordArt will position your text from the top of the Preview box to the middle of the box.

RESOLUTION

Do not press ENTER after typing your text if you plan to select the Stretch Vertical option to size your text to fill the Preview box.

MORE INFORMATION

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

1. From the Insert menu, choose Object. Select MS WordArt and choose

   the OK button.

2. Type "MSW" (without the quotation marks) and press ENTER in the
   Your Text Here box.

3. Select the Stretch Vertical option.

Note: WordArt generates vertical spacing for lowercase letters with descenders (such as y, g, j, p, and q) differently from how it does for lowercase letters without descenders (such as a, e, r, u, and v). This behavior can also affect how your text appears in the Preview box.
