SUMMARY

MORE INFORMATION

Two different Outlook Converters are supplied for two different versions of Sidekick: Sidekick for Windows 2.0 and Sidekick 95. It is important that you choose the proper converter for the version of the file being converted.

Cannot Convert When Running Outlook 97 from CD-ROM

If you run Outlook from a CD-ROM, you cannot import from Sidekick even if you install the converter from the Microsoft Office 97 ValuPack. To use the Sidekick converter, you must run Outlook from your hard drive or a network.

Converting When Running Outlook 97 From a Networked Computer

If you run Outlook from a networked computer, your network administrator must complete the following steps so that you can import information from Sidekick:

1. Install Outlook import and export converters from the

Microsoft Office 97 ValuPack. (For information, see Outlook
   Help.)

2. Copy the Sidekick.sam file to the Office\Convert folder where Outlook
97 or Office 97 is installed.

Steps to Import a Sidekick File

1. On Outlook's File menu, click Import and Export.

2. Click "Import from Schedule+ or another program or file", and click

   Next.

3. Click Sidekick for Windows 2.0 or Sidekick 95 and click Next.

4. Click Browse, navigate to the Sidekick file to be imported and click

   Next.

NOTE: If multiple Sidekick files are found in the chosen directory, all
the files will be displayed in the Import a File dialog box. You must
uncheck those file names you do not want to import.

5. Select Import "<filename>" into "<foldername>" and click Map Custom
   Fields.

6. Map "<Sidekick fieldname>" to "<Outlook fieldname>" and click OK. (Where
the names in brackets are the names you are working with on your
   computer.)

Manually Map Sidekick Fields to Outlook Fields

Most fields will automatically map from Sidekick fields to the proper Outlook fields. However, it is very important that you verify the mapping to assure each Sidekick field is mapped to the appropriate Outlook field.

Some key fields that do not automatically map correctly include:

All Sidekick address fields are mapped to Outlook's Business Address
   fields

Sidekick's Internet field maps to Outlook's Email field.

Sidekick Recurring Appointments are converted as individual
   appointments in Outlook.
