OL97: No Schedule+ Icon on Outlook Toolbar

IMPORTANT: This article contains information about editing the registry. Before you edit the registry, you should first make a backup copy of the registry files (System.dat and User.dat). Both are hidden files in the Windows folder.

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Outlook 97, if you use Microsoft Schedule+ 95 as your primary calendar, you may not see a Schedule+ icon on the Outlook toolbar.

CAUSE

This may occur if you install Schedule+ with Microsoft Office 95, and not with the Microsoft Exchange Client, version 4.0, for Exchange Server.

RESOLUTION

Edit the Windows Registry and enable the Schedule+ button on the Outlook toolbar.

NOTE: You must have Schedule+ properly installed and working on the same computer as Outlook for these procedure to resolve the problem.

WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall Windows 95. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

For information about how to edit the registry, view the Changing Keys And Values online Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe). Note that you should make a backup copy of the registry files (System.dat and User.dat) before you edit the registry.

 1. On the Tools menu in Outlook, click Options to open the Options dialog
    box.

 2. Under the Calendar tab, make sure that you selected the "Use Microsoft
    Schedule+ 95 as my primary calendar" check box and click OK to close
    the dialog box.

 3. On the File menu, click "Exit and Log Off" to quit Outlook.

 4. Click Start, point to Find, and then click Files Or Folders.

 5. In the Named box, type msspc32.dll, and click Find Now. Make a note of
    the file location, and on the File menu, click Close to close the Find
    File dialog box. If you have duplicate files, use the one with the
    latest date.

 6. Click Start, and then click Run.

 7. In the Open box, type "regedit" (without the quotation marks), and
    click OK to run the Windows Registry Editor.

 8. Find the following Registry subkey:

       HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Exchange\Client\Extensions

    In the Name list, find Schedule+ and check that the Data value matches
    your path to the msspc32.dll file. For example, your value should be
    similar to the following where <your path> is the actual path:

       4.0;C:\<your path>\msspc32.dll;2;01000000000001

 9. If your registry does not have this value, on the Edit menu, point to
    New and click String Value to create a Name of Schedule+ and a Value
    of:

            4.0;C:\<your path>\msspc32.dll;2;01000000000001

    If your registry has an incorrect path, click to select the Schedule+
    Name and on the Edit menu, click Modify to change the Value
    information.

10. On the Registry menu, click Exit to close the Registry Editor.

11. Restart Outlook.

If these steps do not work, you may not have a proper installation of Schedule+. Remove Schedule+ and Outlook using the Add/Remove Programs icon in Control Panel. Reinstall Schedule+ and then Outlook. In Outlook, turn on Schedule+ as your primary calendar. If the Schedule+ button does not appear on the Outlook toolbar, repeat the steps above for editing the registry entry.
