SYMPTOMS

Several Microsoft Outlook 97 files remain on your computer after you use Maintenance Mode Setup to Remove All of Microsoft Office 97 if all of the following conditions are true:

CAUSE

The SR-1 Patch does not modify Outlook 8.01. Since Outlook is not modified, the Outlook.inf file is not updated and Setup is not able to correctly evaluate which files to remove.

NOTE: Outlook 8.01 ships with Microsoft Exchange Server 5.0, not Office 97.

RESOLUTION

The following files are left on your computer:

97sr1_0.txt Findfast.cnt Findfast.exe Findfast.hlp Ifilter.cnv Mso7enu.dll Mso97.dll Mso97fx.dll Msoc.dll Msroute.dll

To remove the remaining files manually, follow these steps:

1. Quit all Office 97 programs.

2. Click the Start button, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

3. Double-click Find Fast.

4. On the Index menu, click Close And Stop, then close Control Panel.

5. If in use, click the Microsoft Office Shortcut Bar on an empty area,

then press ALT+F4 to close it.

6. Click the Start button, point to Programs, and then click Windows
   Explorer.

7. In the list of folders, click the plus sign (+) beside Program Files,
click the plus sign (+) beside Microsoft Office, then click the Office
folder. Click to select each of the remaining files and press the DELETE
   key.

NOTE: This is the default location for the files. If you installed
Office 97 to another location, navigat to that location and
   delete the files.

STATUS
