IPX Proxy Client Images and Text Broken or Connections Fail

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

Images and text may appear broken or incomplete on Microsoft Windows 95 clients that use the IPX protocol to connect to a Microsoft Proxy Server. In addition, some Proxy Server clients may fail to connect to the Proxy Server.

CAUSE

Windows 95 does not always allocate enough resources for IPX sockets.

WORKAROUND

Increase the Maximum Sockets and Connections settings on the Windows 95 clients.

1. Open Control Panel, and open the Network applet.

2. Select the Properties for the IPX/SPX protocol.

3. Select the Advanced tab.

4. Select Maximum Connections, and select Value. Enter a value of 32.

5. Select Maximum Sockets, and select Value. Enter a value of 64.

6. Shut down and restart Windows 95.
