DOCUMENT:Q160979 12-JUN-2001 [sna] TITLE :TN3270 Server Does Not Handle Models 3, 4, and 5 Correctly PRODUCT :Microsoft SNA Server PROD/VER:WINDOWS:2.0,2.1,2.11,2.11 SP1 OPER/SYS: KEYWORDS:kbnetwork ====================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The information in this article applies to: - Microsoft SNA Server, versions 2.0, 2.1, 2.11, 2.11 SP1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SYMPTOMS ======== Various terminal types are supported by the TN3270/e Service. However, if the emulator requests a 3270 model 3, 4, or 5, the screen may appear to be truncated or missing characters. CAUSE ===== The TN3270 Server does not format SSCP data correctly for models 3, 4, and 5; it has the following three problems: - For models 3, 4, and 5 the TN3270 Server should never send the ERASE- WRITE command. Instead, it should send the ERASE-WRITE-ALTERNATE command. - The TN3270 Server has an array containing the 3270 screen addresses. Unfortunately, this array is not large enough for model 3 and model 4 screens. - There should be a different array for model 5 screens. RESOLUTION ========== The TN3270 Server's handling of models 3, 4, and 5 was incorrect. The TN3270 Server now formats these screens correctly. To resolve this problem, obtain the hotfix mentioned below. STATUS ====== Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SNA Server versions 2.0, 2.1, 2.11, and 2.11 Service Pack 1. This problem was corrected in the latest Microsoft SNA Server 2.11 U.S. Service Pack.
