BUG: YMD Date Format Causes Improper History Selection

SYMPTOMS

Using a system date format of Year-Month-Day (YMD) causes an improper history display or erroneous "There are no items in the list." Message.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

Steps to Reproduce Problem

  1. From the Window system Control Panel, set the short date format to "YY/MM/DD."

  2. From the Visual SourceSafe Explorer, select a project and either choose Show History on the Tools menu, or right-click a project and select Show History.

  3. From the Project History Options dialog box, enter a range of dates in the YY/MM/DD format that you know exists in the History List. (Try from the beginning of the year to the end of the year.) The "There are no items in the list" message appears. Note that if no dates are entered, the entire History List appears.)
