FIX: Visual SourceSafe 4.0 Increases Processor Usage

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Visual SourceSafe, 16-bit and 32-bit, for Windows, version 4.0

SYMPTOMS

When running Visual SourceSafe 4.0 in Windows 95 or Windows NT, the system slows down significantly. Processor usage rises to around 100 percent and stays there.

WORKAROUND

This problem was fixed in Visual SourceSafe version 4.0a (build 1309) which can be obtained from Microsoft Technical Support.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
