BUG: Extended Characters as Field Terminators in BCP

SYMPTOMS

Using version 4.2 of the bulk copy program (BCP) to copy a file containing fields terminated by extended characters (characters with code page values greater than 127) results in zero rows being copied. Using extended characters as terminators works fine in versions 1.x of BCP.

WORKAROUND

Either use versions 1.x of BCP or use a field terminator with a code page value less than or equal to 127 in the ASCII file being copied.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server version 4.2. We are researching this problem and will post new information here as it becomes available.
