Cannot Add or Delete Records After Performing a Join in Q+E

Last reviewed: October 31, 1994
Article ID: Q46019

SUMMARY

Once two files have been joined with either Select Join or Select Outer Join, adding new records or deleting records is not allowed until the file has been saved and reopened.

This restriction applies because the joined file does not have a disk file to write to. Saving the results of the join to a file and then reopening the file allows the adding and deleting features.

There is no disk file for the window if the title bar of the file lists more than one filename in parentheses after Query#.
