BUG: SQL Enterprise Manager Has Invalid Configuration Option

• Microsoft SQL Server version 6.0

SYMPTOMS

In the SQL Server errorlog, the following message will occur if the option Auto Start License Logging is selected on the Server Options tab in the Configurations Options dialog box on the Server menu.

kernel Unable to load startup handler function 'ntls_start'.

WORKAROUND

Follow the steps below to resolve this error:

1. On the SQL Server computer, run the Windows NT Registry Editor program (REGEDT32.EXE).



2. Select the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE window.



3. Select the path SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\MSSQLServer.



4. Edit the StartupHandlers value by double-clicking it.



5. Delete "XPLOG60,ntls_start" from the value and click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft SQL Server version 6.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
