FIX: DUMP or LOAD with Tape May Fail on Windows NT 3.51

SYMPTOMS

A SQL Server dump or load with a tape may fail on a computer running Windows NT 3.51 and some SCSI controllers.

To work around this problem, do any of the following:


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft SQL Server version 6.5. This problem has been corrected in U.S. Service Pack 3 for Microsoft SQL Server version 6.5. For more information, contact your primary support provider.

Error : 3201
Can't open dump device '<device name>', device error or device off line.
Please consult the SQL Server error log for more details.
