FIX: HOLDLOCK on READTEXT Causes Error 7134

SYMPTOMS

When you use HOLDLOCK with READTEXT, the query fails with the following error message:

Msg 7134 Level 15 State 2: The text table and the table referenced by
the text pointer disagree.

WORKAROUND

Do not use HOLDLOCK with READTEXT in Microsoft SQL Server version 6.5.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft SQL Server version 6.5. This problem has been corrected in U.S. Service Pack 3 for Microsoft SQL Server version 6.5. For more information, contact your primary support provider.
