Converting a Cell's Underlying Formula to a Value

SUMMARY

Often it is necessary or desirable to change the underlying formula in a cell to the value the formula returns.

Two methods can be used to convert the values of a cell.

A) This method works on individual cells:

  1. Select the cell.
2. Press F2. 3. Press F9. 4. Press ENTER.

B) This method will work on one or a range of cells:

  1. Select the cell or range of cells.
2. Choose Copy from the Edit menu. 3. Choose Paste Special from the Edit menu, select Values in the 
   Paste option box, and press OK.
Note: For the Paste Special command to be listed on the Edit menu, 
      Full Menus must be chosen from the Options menu.
