SUMMARY

When troubleshooting numbers that appear to be 1/100th of the actual number, check to see if the Fixed Decimal check box is selected. This option is located on the Edit tab of the dialog box that appears when you choose Options from the Tools menu (version 5.00) or in the dialog box that appears when you choose Workspace from the Options menu (versions previous to version 5.00).

MORE INFORMATION

If Fixed Decimal is selected, the fixed decimal placement should be set to 2.

To quickly determine if the Fixed Decimal setting is enabled, check the lower-right corner of your screen for the letters "FIX". You must turn the Status bar on in order to view these letters.

To disable this option, do the following:

Microsoft Excel Version 5.00

  1. From the Tools menu, choose Options.

  2. Select the Edit tab, and clear the Fixed Decimal check box.

Microsoft Excel Versions Previous To Version 5.00

  1. From the Options menu, choose Workspace.

  2. Clear the Fixed Decimal check box.
