SUMMARY

If you copy the contents of a cell that does not contain a cell note into a cell that does contain a note, the existing note is deleted when you choose Paste from the Edit menu, or Paste Special and All from the Edit menu.

To retain existing cell notes when pasting, it is necessary to choose Paste Special and make sure that Skip Blanks is checked if the All option button is checked.

This only happens when choosing Paste from the Edit menu or when choosing Paste Special from the Edit menu and selecting All or Notes. The cell notes will be retained if you choose Paste Special, and any of the options besides All or Notes that include formulas, values, and formats.
