SUMMARY

In Microsoft Excel versions 1.00, 1.03, 1.04, and 1.06, to create vertical text in a chart (for example, on the value (y) axis), type each character of the label on a line by itself, pressing RETURN between each letter and ENTER after the last letter.

For example, to attach a vertical label of "YEARS," type the following:

   Y<RETURN>E<RETURN>A<RETURN>R<RETURN>S<ENTER>

MORE INFORMATION

In Excel versions 1.50 and 2.20, use the Vertical Text option in the Format Text dialog box.
