The Microsoft Excel error message

   Can't do that to a multiple selection

appears any time the CTRL key has been pressed while selecting a block of data. Therefore, selecting two cells while holding down the CTRL key, then choosing Copy or Paste will result in this error message. This behavior is common to all Windows and Presentation Manager applications.
