Excel: ACTIVE.CELL() Within SET.VALUE() Returns Macro Error

SUMMARY

A macro error will occur at a cell containing a SET.VALUE() function if the ACTIVE.CELL() function is used as the "ref" argument of the SET.VALUE() command.

For example, if a macro is run that contains the function "=SET.VALUE(ACTIVE.CELL(),10)" in cell A5, a macro error will occur at cell A5.

The SET.VALUE() function can only contain an actual reference to a cell on the macro sheet. The "ref" argument cannot be a reference to any cell outside the macro sheet or the ACTIVE.CELL() function.

To place a particular value in a cell on the active worksheet, the FORMULA() command can be used. For example, to enter a 10 in the active cell, use the formula "=FORMULA(10)".
