Excel: Alphabetizing Custom Functions Under Paste Functions

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Excel for Windows, versions 3.0, 4.0
  • Microsoft Excel for OS/2, version 3.0

By default, Microsoft Excel places custom functions at the end of the Paste Functions list. This distinguishes Excel functions from custom functions. The only way to have custom functions appear in alphabetical order with Excel's functions is to save the macro sheet containing the function in the Add-In file format. This method also keeps the macro sheet name from appearing with the name of the custom function in the Paste Functions list. There is no way to accomplish this in Excel versions 2.x.

NOTE: This problem does not occur in later versions of Microsoft Excel for Windows.
