Excel: Calculating the Number of Weekdays Between Two Dates

Last reviewed: November 2, 1994
Article ID: Q74261

SUMMARY

The following formula will calculate how many weekdays fall between two weekdays, where startdate and enddate are the two dates:

   =enddate-startdate-INT((enddate-startdate)/7)*2-
   IF(WEEKDAY(enddate)<WEEKDAY(startdate),2)

The starting and ending dates must be actual weekdays. If either of them fall on a weekend, this calculation will not be accurate.
