Excel: Cannot Paste Arguments for Function Macros

Summary:

If a function macro appears in the Paste Function command on the Formula menu in Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh version 2.2, the arguments do not appear when the Paste Arguments Box is checked. The option to paste arguments for function macros is not available in version 2.2; it is only available in Excel version 3.0 (for Windows, OS/2, or the Macintosh).

More Information:

You can create a command macro to paste arguments for a function macro. To demonstrate this, enter the following commands on a macro sheet, and define cell A1 as a function macro:

   A1: Formula_test
   A2: =ARGUMENT("arg1")
   A3: =ARGUMENT("arg2")
   A4: =arg1+arg2
   A5: =RETURN()

Next, enter the following commands, and define cell B1 as a command macro:

   B1: Paste_formula_test
   B2: =FORMULA("=formula_test(arg1,arg2,arg3)")
   B3: =RETURN()

When you run the Paste_formula_test command macro, it puts placeholders into the active cell for arguments to the Formula_test function macro.

Note: The error value #NAME? appears in the cell until you replace the placeholders with values.
