Excel: Colored Chart Gridlines Change to Black and White

Summary:

If you open and save a Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh version 3.0 chart with colored gridlines and on a Macintosh without a color monitor, the gridlines are formatted as black. If you later open the chart on a Macintosh with a color monitor, the gridlines remain black.

This loss of gridline color formatting occurs whether or not you make any changes to the chart while it is on the monochrome monitor. This problem only affects gridlines, other chart elements appear colored on the color monitor unless you reformat them on the monochrome Macintosh.

To correct this problem, do not save the chart after you open it on the monochrome Macintosh, or reformat the gridlines as colored on the color monitor.

Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here as it becomes available.
