Excel: Commas and Decimal Points Not Retained in Chart Text

SUMMARY

If a number is entered as attached or unattached chart text and the number contains commas or decimal points that can be removed without changing the number's value, Microsoft Excel version 2.20 and 3.00 will remove them.

The following is an example: 

   Original Number         After Number Is Entered
   ---------------         -----------------------

   4,000                   4000
   4000.00                 4000
To retain the number's original format, enter it using the ="number" format, where number is the number to be displayed.

The following is an example: 

   Original Number         After Number Is Entered
   ---------------         -----------------------

   ="4,000"                4,000
   ="4000.00"              4000.00

MORE INFORMATION

If a comma is not in a standard position, or the value of the number will change when a decimal point is removed, Excel will not remove the characters.

The following is an example:
