Summary:

Microsoft Excel 3.0 charts discontinuous ranges in a single column differently than previous versions of Excel. If you select a discontinuous range of cells in a single column and a create chart, Excel 3.0 plots the information as a single series.

More Information:

Previous versions of Excel plot each discontinuous range as a separate series, regardless of whether or not the ranges are in the same column. Generally, a column contains one type of information, so treating a discontinuous range in a single column as a single series enables you to skip cells that don't pertain to the chart without creating extra series or categories.
