Excel: Document Does Not Have Scroll Bars or Is Invisible

SUMMARY

When a Microsoft Excel document is saved, the position and size of the window is restored when the document is reopened. If the document was used on a Macintosh with a large-screen monitor, the windows may be larger than the screen or off the screen when the document is opened on a Macintosh with a normal-sized screen.

If all or part of the title bar of the window is on the screen, simply double-click the title bar. This will zoom the window to fill the normal screen. The window can then be resized or moved as desired.

If the window is off the screen, do the following:

1. From the Window menu, choose New Window.

2. Double-click the title bar.

3. From the Window menu, choose "Document_Name:1" (where "Document_Name" is the name of the document).

4. From the File menu, choose Close.

In Excel version 3.00 or 2.20, you can choose Arrange All from the Window menu to change the window position and size of all open documents.

You can also use a macro to change the window. The following macro commands will reposition the window on the screen:

   =MOVE(0,40)
   =RETURN()

1. Create a new macro sheet.

2. Type in this macro.

3. Select the first cell of the macro.

4. From the Formula menu, choose Define Name, name the macro, and under Macro, select Command.

5. From the File menu, choose Open to open the document whose window is off the screen.

6. Run the macro.
