  • Microsoft Mouse Driver, versions 8.0, 9.0

SUMMARY

When operating the Microsoft C version 6.0 Programmer's Work Bench through Windows (as a full-screen MS-DOS-based application), you need to use Microsoft Mouse driver version 8.0 or later.

Earlier versions of the Microsoft Mouse driver only allow access to the first 25 lines of text from a 50-line text-mode display. In addition, all of the menu options may not work when selected.

MORE INFORMATION

Programmer's Work Bench is an application shipped with Microsoft C version 6.0. When running in 50-line text mode in full-screen mode from within Windows, the mouse may exhibit the following behavioral patterns:

  • May not access all 50 lines of the Programmer's Work Bench
  • May not fully execute the menu options under the Programmer's Work Bench

The Microsoft Mouse driver version 8.0 or later should be installed in one of the following two files:
  • In the AUTOEXEC.BAT file, add the following line:

          [Drive]:\[Path]\MOUSE.COM

    -or-

  • In the CONFIG.SYS file, add the following line

          DEVICE=[Drive]:\[Path]\MOUSE.SYS

    where [Drive] and [Path] are the drive and subdirectory location of the Microsoft Mouse driver.
