  • Microsoft Windows operating system versions 3.1, 3.11

SUMMARY

The MS-DOS Executive (MSDOS.EXE) on the Windows Driver Library (WDL) and available from the Microsoft Software/Data Library does not display the drive icons, and may not display filenames when MS-DOS Executive is first started. The results will depend on the video driver you are using.

If MS-DOS Executive does not display filenames or drive icons, you can maximize the window to correct the problem. Forcing the screen redraw in this way will cause the filenames and drive icons to appear. After the screen has been redraw, MS-DOS Executive should function normally.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in MS-DOS Executive version 3.1 from the WDL. We are researching this problem and will post new information here as it becomes available.
