SUMMARY

In Microsoft Excel versions 1.50 and earlier, to send special codes to a serial printer:

  1. From the File menu, choose Printer Setup.

  2. Specify TTY as the printer type.

  3. Type the code characters in the Printer Message box in Page Setup.

To send codes in ASCII, precede them with a forward slash character "/"; to send codes in Octal or Hexidecimal format, type an "o" or an "h" after the slash; to send a control character, type "^[", then the character. The following are examples for these:

   ASCII /<ASCII code here>
   Octal /o<Octal code here>
   Hexidecimal /h<hex code here>
   Control ^[<control character here>

MORE INFORMATION

The Printer Setup option is no longer available in Excel 2.20. To send printer codes to a printer from this version, a third-party printer driver needs to be used -- for example, Mac Daisy Link.
