Excel: Update Remote References with Linked Excel Charts

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Excel for Windows, versions 2.x, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0
  • Microsoft Excel for OS/2, versions 2.2, 2.21, 3.0

The Update Remote References option applies to formulas that have references to other Windows applications through dynamic data exchange (DDE). When this check box is cleared, formulas with references to other applications use the last value received from the remote application. Clearing this check box does not affect charts and other standard external references.
