SUMMARY

In Microsoft Excel, when you use the EDIT.OBJECT() function with Windows Sound System Objects, use the number 1 in the verb_num argument to play a sound, and the number 2 to activate the Quick Recorder for editing the sound object.

MORE INFORMATION

The EDIT.OBJECT() function starts the application associated with the selected sound or animation object and makes the object available for editing or playing. EDIT.OBJECT() takes one argument, called verb_num, which specifies the action to be taken.

In other functions, a value of 1 often specifies edit and 2 often specifies play, but the actual operation is determined by the object's application. In the case of the Windows Sound System, the opposite is true, that is, 1 specifies play and 2 specifies edit.
