SUMMARY

If you paste an area of a Microsoft Excel version 1.00, 1.03, 1.04, or 1.06 worksheet into Microsoft Word version 4.00 using the Paste Link command, the error message "No link information in clipboard" will appear because these versions of Excel do not have QuickSwitch information built into them. This error message will also appear if you copy Excel data as picture.

If you select the Excel graphic (created by copying data as a picture) and choose Update Link from the Edit menu in Word, the error message "No painting or drawing program is active" will be displayed. This message occurs because a range copied as a picture from Excel does not contain the correct link information for a graphic.

To update the graphic information in these versions of Excel, the graphic must be manually recopied and pasted into Word.
