SUMMARY

The Scroll Lock feature in Microsoft Excel versions 2.20, 3.00 and 4.00 allows you to use the arrow keys on the keyboard in the same manner as the arrows on the scroll bars. When Scroll Lock is turned on, using an arrow key on the keyboard scrolls the spreadsheet without moving the active cell. If Scroll Lock is disabled, pressing an arrow key on the keyboard scrolls you through the spreadsheet and moves the active cell accordingly.

Do the following to toggle the Scroll Lock function on and off:

If Scroll Lock is turned on and you are using a standard Macintosh keyboard that does not have the function keys, the only way to turn Scroll Lock off is to remove the Excel Settings file in the System Folder and restart Excel. You cannot turn on Scroll Lock from a keyboard that does not have the function keys built into it.

NOTE: The DataDesk Keyboard is purchased separately from the dealer and does have functions keys. The standard Macintosh Plus Keyboard and the standard Apple Desktop Bus Keyboard (Standard ADB Keyboard) do not have function keys and cannot enable or disable scroll lock.
