"Trimmed Down" Windows NT Installations Not Supported

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Windows NT operating system version 3.1
  • Microsoft Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1

Microsoft does not support installations of Windows NT that have been "trimmed down" using a mechanism other than the Windows NT Setup program. When you troubleshoot a Windows NT problem, verify that all necessary files are present. If any files appear to be missing, have the customer reinstall Windows NT before proceeding with any further troubleshooting steps.

No minimal installation of Windows NT was tested other than the installation that results after using the component removal feature of the Windows NT Setup.
