Adding a Filename to Print to in Print Manager

Windows NT can be configured to print directly to a specified file without prompting for a filename. You can accomplish this by adding a value to the Registry. Once you add the value, you can configure an additional port from Print Manager.

To add the value, use the following procedure:

1. Start Registry Editor and locate the following Registry subkey:

         HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft
         \Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Ports
   

2. From the Edit menu, choose Add Value. In the Value Name field type the

2. Exit Windows NT and restart your computer.

3. Start Print Manager and select the correct printer.

4. Choose Properties from the Printer menu.

5. From Print To, select the filename you specified in Step 2.
