Adding Microphone, Volume Control, Option Button Properties

ID: Q154029

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

After you add a microphone, go to Volume control by right-clicking the speaker icon on the task bar, click Options, then click Properties; there are three option buttons. If you select Playback, modify the option button[ASCII 146]s check boxes, then click another option button without applying the changes by clicking the OK button, all of the boxes default back to their original state. You can only modify one option button's setting at a time, not all three.

CAUSE

This is caused because the current programming logic uses the list box (where the check boxes are located) to store the future enable/disable state. Every time you switch to a new group using the option buttons, you wipe the previous information state and dynamically reload the original information. Therefore, only the most recent changes get made.

WORKAROUND

After modifying each option button's check boxes, apply the changes by selecting the OK button.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 4.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
